My Future Career
My name’s Ratana. I was born on July 22, 1990 in Siem Reap province. I have moved to Phnom Penh to attend university after I completed my high school diploma. Now I’m a junior who is studying in the Royal University of Law and Economics, majoring in Law in the special class of French Cooperation. The question concerning my educational plans in the university strikes close to heart. In high school, I was good at Khmer literature that encouraged me with a fully prepared for the silver medal in The National Outstanding Examination in 2008. The only conclusion I have reached is that I’m glad I am a junior of faculty of law and have another year to decide what to do in my future career.
My education is a balance between jurisdiction and administration with a slight preference toward the legal system. I have found two subjects that fascinate me in the list of course such as Criminal and Administrative Law. As far as careers go, I have made even fewer decisions. While I have known from the weak of country and corrupt judicial system that Cambodia’s citizens are not protected by law and no protection of human rights with impunity, it was a painful experience to notify and see this with my eyes. From that day forward I have seriously considered a career in Jurisdiction. I interested in working as a prosecutor who officially accuses someone of committing a crime, especially in a court of law. In order to abolish the corruption and impunity that enjoyed by powerful perpetrators of serious crimes remains the most pervasive evil affecting Cambodia which oppose to the accountability of the rule of law, I have to access all situation above and see what responsibilities I have as a prosecutor.
I do have interests in other careers beside the court. I enjoyed studying Administration law, and I was intrigued by the public officer as the career of my mother who works in Siem Reap Provincial Hall. Consequently, I have discovered that my focus in working as public officer in my provincial hall has a lot of chances and advantage where I can anticipate working in Provincial Council or Public Relation and International Cooperation Office. I have since realized that being truly a prosecutor or public officer; I need at least Master degree, and I also keep observing the training, experience, and other social conditions. It is indicated to my apprehension of working in court or administration, though I have already fixed my goal by step. If there is no chance to be a prosecutor or public officer, I have determined already my last plan of working as the university instructor in the faculty of law. I am proud that a lot friend calls me for help because I am to some degree, successfully in my attempts to help other and not to mind doing so. I have become more accessible to teach my classmate from high school till attending in university.
As I look to the future I am excited by many varied careers I imagine that I will enjoy. All those careers depend on the situation and condition I will have, whereas I am going to accomplish one of them as far as I can. In my educational plans, I’m looking forward to getting scholarship and study abroad. I would like to get an MBA and a PH.D. I want to be as good as I possibly can be in my profession and will work for that. I want to be knowledgeable and capable enough to give people what they need. I feel that gaining more information from these few years of education in French Cooperation will give me the ability to do the best possible job.
